WORKING THOSE ANGLES 💁🏻‍♀️⁠

One of the many things I love about floristry as an art is how different our designs look from different angles. These table florals are actually the same ones I posted on Monday (have a peek if you missed it! 👀) but from above.⁠
-⁠
As a Florist, it's my job to make sure all designs look perfect from every angle. When making the designs in my studio, I make them on a turntable so I can easily see them from the sides and back. At a venue, myself and the team squat behind seats all around the reception to check each guest has the perfect view 👌🏻⁠

After that, we disspapear for a few hours of rest and food, smiling to ourselves as we leave and hear guests commenting 'I've never seen wedding flowers like this, they look amazing!' 🥰⁠

I really didn't think I'd be saying this in my first Summer doing this full time but postponements have actually meant that I got fully booked pretty early. ⁠
-⁠
I'm now beavering away behind the scenes to get things ready for wedding season after heartbreakingly packing it all away last March, not knowing for how long. ⁠
-⁠
Iris & Co has changed a lot since then, pivoting left right and centre to make sure the bills are paid and I was able to stay open. Most of my days now are spent getting houseplant stock, adding them to the website, packing orders, writing care cards etc and the endless admin that comes with an eCommerce store. Come wedding season, that's all going to have to change as the vast majority of my time I'll be flowering in the studio, up ladders and in gorgeous venues. ⁠

I've been automating as much as humanly possible so that the shop stays running in the background, without me having to do too much effort. So far, I've automated my Google & Facebook/Insta catalogues (I literally used to manually add each product to both websites, then make changes, manually 🙄) now the websites talk to each other and everything magically appears! Labels now (almost) print themselves and I've got a decent stock of house plants, dried flowers and pots that should keep me going. I can't automate packing the boxes, which would be the dream but it does mean I can still keep running the shop, which I do enjoy whilst building beautiful weddings at the same time. ⁠

HOW READY ARE YOU FOR SUMMER? ☀️⁠

And I don't mean in a hideous 'must lose wiright, bikini body ready' nonsense. I'm sure that like me, this summer will be all about soaking up that feeling of being in a pub garden, sunnies on, cold drink in hand. Or BBQ's round a friends house and picnics in the park. All those things we've always taken forgotten are going to feel so, so good. ⁠

To me, everything looks better in the sunshine, colours are brighter, the shadows are beautiful and the sunsets are stunning. The flowers are starting to pop open, sharing their colourful interiors as I walk to the studio, along the river. It's filling me with a hope I had lost over Christmas when things were at their hardest but it's back and it's not fading 🥰😀⁠

Thanks for everyone's feedback on the dried flower bundles, I've now added them to the shop. I've kept them in small bundles so that you can mix and match different styles. ⁠

If you're a stylist, stationer or cake maker, these are a great way to start working with dried florals and adding them to your designs and photos. ⁠
