Martina | String of Pearls | Hanging Rosary Plant

Native to the South West Africa, this string of pearls plants are used to creeping along the ground with their long green vines.   Martina’s spherical, pea like leaves make her a real showstopper of a plant especially as she grows and cascades down your plant pot on a shelf or in a hanging basket or planter.

She loves to be in a bright sunny spot and not too much water as she’s a type of succulent so be careful with the watering can!

☼ Sunlight: A bright spot without direct sunlight
☂ Water: infrequently, careful not to overwater
♡ Care: Easy – Medium
◯ Pot Size: fits 15-17cm pots

She will arrive in a 15cm plastic growing pot (with hanger attached), or you can add on a perfectly fitting pot to go with her – I recommend a 15-17cm pot.

Care Advice

Martina | String of Pearls | Hanging Rosary Plant

String of Pearls are native to South West Africa, a warm and dry climate where they often grow in rocky outcrops.

She loves bright sunlight (but avoid super strong direct sun).  Treat as with all succulents when watering – let the soil dry out first, overwatering is generally the worst thing you can do for this type of plant.  Give her a trim if she gets ‘leggy’ and create new baby Martinas from your cuttings to give to friends!

Martina comes in a plastic growing pot complete with removable hanger.  She looks gorgeous in a pot, with room to tumble over the side of a bookcase or table or hanging from a macrame plant hanger for that mid-century vibe.

Just like all our plants, Martina is named after an inspiring woman – this time, it’s Martina Navratilova, celebrated sportswoman and tennis hero and LGBT activist.

String of Pearl plants are toxic if eaten so keep away from your fluffy (or not so!) family members if they like to nibble.

Beautiful plants and excellent customer service

I ordered a house plant and pot from Gemma and am really pleased with it so far.  The website pot recommendation was really helpful and also the plant care tips that were emailed to me separately. Gemma delivered the plants herself and the presentation was beautiful. Would really recommend for any gifts (to other or self!).

Bought a “phoebe” plant as I can’t seem to keep houseplants alive! Delivery was amazing (plant still seemed happy!) and I even had a little freebie which I also love. Phoebe has settled in nicely in her new pot (also from Iris & Co, beautiful). Couldn’t ask for more and would definitely recommend!
